<blockquote><p>Last week, over 600,000 Macs were infected with a new trojan called the Flashback trojan, and even if you&#8217;ve updated your software, you could still be infected. Here&#8217;s an app that will check your computer for the trojan, and how to remove it if you find you&#8217;re infected.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Gizmodo provided <a href="http://gizmodo.com/5899352/mac-flashback-trojan-find-out-if-youre-one-of-the-600000-infected" target="_blank">step-by-step instructions</a> based on F-Secure’s <a href="http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojan-downloader_osx_flashback_i.shtml" target="_blank">write up</a> on the virus, but now there’s an app <a href="https://github.com/jils/FlashbackChecker/wiki" target="_blank">you can download</a> &amp; install that will check for you.&nbsp; </p>
<p>Unfortunately, neither the Gizmodo instructions or app will actually <em>remove</em> the virus if you are infected.&nbsp; You’ll need to follow <a href="http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojan-downloader_osx_flashback_i.shtml" target="_blank">these removal instructions</a> provided by F-Secure or <a href="mailto://support@geekgirltech.com?subject=Help%20with%20Mac%20Virus" target="_blank">contact me</a> for help.</p>
<p>Did you check your system and get a clean bill of health?&nbsp; Great!&nbsp; Now make sure you have the latest security updates from Apple to prevent infection.&nbsp; Not sure how to do that?&nbsp; <a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338" target="_blank">Here’s how</a>.</p>
<p><em>Note: this virus isn’t really a trojan, but that’s another topic. </em></p>
